October Engagement Session at Petrifying Springs

Can I just take a moment to thank Mother Nature for the breath-taking colors she so graciously blessed us with this fall? I was truly mesmerized by how beautiful the park was last weekend! The rain gave us a bit of a scare toward the end of this couple’s hour and a half drive to Kenosha, but the showers ended up working in our favor. The earth was damp, but the orange and yellow hues were rich and bold, and the usually crowded park was empty. (Photographers who frequently shoot in popular locations know what a blessing it is to skip photoshopping unwanted elements out of every other photo!)

Planning the perfect fall photos is a bit like trying to plan your meal prep around when your avocados will be ripe. When an avocado reaches the point of perfection, it’s delicious, but if you try to eat it even slightly before or after, it’s probably still edible, but tastes disappointing. Getting the Autumn photos of your dreams is similar—September is still too green, and by November everything looks dead. That end of October sweet spot is what you want to aim for, which is why rescheduling this particular shoot was not really an option. I am so relieved we didn’t have to because I am over the moon about the way the photos turned out! And they chose the perfect colors for their outfits, don’t you think?

Cheers to the happy couple! <3
